Greg “Pappy” Boyington Grouping

(from “Black Sheep” Squadron fame)

#4056

Pappy’s AVG period bush jacket from his ex-wife Dolores with notarized documentation. Boyington actually attended the first two AVG reunions but was barred from further participation by Chennault. The type of reunion pin on the bush jacket was the pre 1945 type, very different from the modern types. Pappy never received a full size breast pin. On the right chest is a theater made bullion Chinese wing with four snaps holding it to the jacket, it is removable. This and many of the items were left by Greg at his ex wife’s house when they divorced. They were bought by a fan of the TV show “Baa Baa Blacksheep” that lived in the same town.

Boyingtons original Marine campaign hat or “cover”. It has his initials in gold leaf in the hatband as well as the brand which is a Stetson. The cords and USMC insignia are his originals (cords are stored separately because of their corrosion). This is one of the few items that survived from his pre-AVG Marine days. Most of his stuff was lost in various moves.
